Futurum EDUCATION
For Schools & MATs

Teachers are trained to teach. Rarely are they trained to assess.

The same experience of building, leading, and repairing these systems from the inside — behind Futurum's tutoring and Advocacy work, applied here to how schools design and use assessment.

I help schools check their tests are actually fair and useful, and use the results properly.

Assessment design and data literacy consultancy for schools — helping staff move from "we've always marked it this way" to genuinely valid, reliable assessment.

Why this exists

Teachers learn how to teach, but rarely how to test properly. That's the gap this fills.

Most teacher training covers pedagogy in depth, but rarely covers how to design a valid, fair assessment. This is a genuine, long-standing gap in the profession.

Background

Cambridge Assessment Network

CPD-accredited training in the principles of assessment (validity, reliability, fairness, standards) and the full assessment cycle — design, mark schemes, standardisation and moderation.

Senior school leadership

Fifteen years teaching. Ten years in senior leadership, including taking a school from Ofsted Inadequate to Good. Real, practical experience of what changes when assessment is done well.

SEND and EHCP expertise

Assessment validity questions sit directly alongside SEND identification and EHCP evidence — whether a school's assessments genuinely captured a student's needs is often central to getting the right support in place.

What this could look like

Assessment audit

A review of a department's or school's current assessment materials and practices — identifying where validity, reliability or fairness may be compromised, with practical recommendations.

Staff CPD / training day

Whole-staff or departmental training on writing better assessment materials — from learning outcomes and mark schemes through to standardisation and moderation.

Data interpretation support

Helping leadership teams use assessment data to inform genuine planning decisions, rather than just reporting grades.

Honestly, where this stands right now

This is a new service, still being built. I'm currently completing further training (Cambridge Assessment Network) alongside my existing work. I'm taking on only a small number of enquiries right now — not a fully open, ready-to-book service yet.

If this could help your school or trust, I'd welcome an early conversation. Please know that capacity is small right now, and growing slowly on purpose.
